Building and maintaining transmission lines running tens of thousands
of kilometers requires terrain analysis of highly detailed paths across
vast landscapes.
Proprietary high resolution data is provided on a narrow band around
the transmission line by contractors using LIDAR.
However, before expensive proprietary data collection is contracted,
route finding across large areas must narrow down and establish some
plausible construction paths selected after examination of the
entire landscape.
EarthDetails can assist this initial planning by providing 3D visualizations of
the highest resolution available large-scale DEM (such as USGS) draped
with aerial photographs and brought to the office desktop or field laptop on
a fast, interactive, and seamlessly large area model.
Once the path is established and high resolution proprietary data is
obtained, for both construction and maintenance purposes, this data
should be merged with the wider area dataset to include the entire landscape.
To get this superimposition onto the larger picture is necessary so
that disaster planning can study, reroute, and fortify
against avalanches, floods, mud and rock slides that can occur due to terrain
several kilometers away from the transmission line itself.
The EarthDetails engine is very efficient in handling varying resolutions in
the same model will excel at this across a vast landscape.
We are looking for industry providers who are looking for this 3D capability to
give the clients and edge. Please
